Available Ports
Zangband is currently available as a source code distribution and as binary distributions for a number of operating systems. Note that we do not normally distribute binaries for UNIX and LINUX operating systems as these can vary considerably between installations. People using these operating systems should download the source code and compile Zangband themselves. Zangband will normally compile out of the box and makefiles for most operating systems and many compilers are available within the source code distribution.

Zangband has been successfully ported to the following systems:

  • various flavors of UNIX
  • various flavors of LINUX
  • MS-DOS (minimum 386 processor (and 8Mb RAM if you use sound and graphics))
  • Windows 95, 98, 2000 and NT
  • Mac (PPC) and (68020+)
  • Acorn RISC OS
  • Amiga (680x0)
  • OS/2

You are free to distribute Zangband as a binary or as source code so long as such distribution is in accordance with its license. You may also hack Zangband to your hearts content so long as your end product is distributed in accordance with the license restrictions.
